How does the prop you brought represent you?

I have been an athlete my entire life, and I still identify as somebody who takes pride in what physical activity brings me.  My physical, mental, and emotional strength can be represented by my running shoes.

How would you describe courage in one sentence?

Courage is the ability to know and accept that something frightens you, but you do it anyway.

How did getting your degree require courage?

I embarked on this journey right before giving birth to my second child, so this major investment of time and family resources was a scary thing for me to commit to.  Diving into my degree required courage for this reason.

How does your current job or career path require courage?

Being a school counselor requires the courage to speak up when something is not right; children’s lives depend on this.

How did EU help you become more courageous in your thinking and actions?

Eastern’s School Counseling program has helped me step out of my comfort zone in order to prepare me for my future career.  The reflective nature of the coursework and the feedback from my professors have helped me grow as a counselor and increased my self-awareness.

Where do you hope courage will lead you in the future?

I hope courage will allow me to continue to grow as a counselor, a mother, wife, friend, etc.  Courage will help me to choose a harder right over an easier wrong.
