Noah '18, Exercise Science

波特. Exercise scientist. 信仰ful servant.

How does the prop you brought represent you?
I am a potter and love the imagery of God being the potter and us being the clay.

How would you describe courage in one sentence?
Courage is making the choice to keep going despite fear or anxiety.

How did getting your degree require courage?
I have to trust that God has a plan for me. I came in with the hopes of going to get my master's in occupational therapy, with exercise science just being a segway to that, but I have learned to trust that God has a plan for me in the world of exercise science. Making the choice to graduate a year early has also been a leap of courage.

How does your current job or career path require courage?
I am hoping to either work at CHOP or go and do mission work in Africa. I think these both require the willingness to look past obstacles and fears and to love people well. Trusting God in this process is huge.

How did EU help you become more courageous in your thinking and actions?
Eastern has given me the tools to courageously stand up for others, to seek out those who are marginalized, and to love all who I meet. I have found great peace in joy in trust God for courage.

Where do you hope courage will lead you in the future?
I hope that courage will lead me to a place where I can serve and love those who most need it. I hope that courage will lead me to a place where I understand how to find joy in hardship and peace in uncertainty. I hope that courage will show me where I am supposed to go, so that I can use my skills as an exercise scientist, as an artist, and as a friend to continue to grow and create in all that I do and be willing to change.
